Okay, so in year 11 of high school, I was about 15 or 16 at the time, my school held a debutante ball. A debutante ball is where young adults choose a partner, spend many months attending dance rehearsals and practise dancing together. Then on the day, groups of friends hire big limos and go to a park to take photos before they go to the venue.

The boys dress up in their best tuxedos and the girls wear elegant white gowns (sometimes they look like wedding dresses!), and then they dance together in front of all their friends and family.

I wore a beautiful white strapless poofy dress, that came out at the sides with a lot of tulle. It was incredibly elegant, and I felt like a real princess! My dress had beautiful gemstones and flowers stitched in detailing along the trim and it was so beautiful! I remember when I went shopping with my mum, we both fell in love with it instantly!

It was so special to me because it was a custom dress. The tailor had to alter the dress to make sure it would fit me perfectly. For many weeks, we would have to return to the store and I would have a fitting. I would try on the dress again, and they would pin in where it needed to be adjusted, and they would spend weeks stitching it until it perfectly fits me.

I remember the night like it was yesterday, I wish I could relive it again! It was one of the most special nights of my life and I will never forget it.
